ARRANGEMENTS FOR THE CONVENIENCE OF PASSENGERS |

TICKETS IN ADVANCE |
|
Tickets (except Holiday Contract or
Weekly Run-about tickets) may be obtained in advance (dated as required) from
any Station, Inquiry Office or Agency, or by post. Remittances should be made
payable to the order of the Company, and sufficient notice given to ensure the
tickets being despatched in time for use. No fee charged for booking in
advance. If through fares are not in force
from any station to the pasenger's destination, these can be put in force for
the occasion on 24 hours' notice being given. |

RESERVED COMPARTMENTS & SEATS |
|
Compartments may be reserved at a
charge of 5/- each per single journey, subject to there being the following
numbers of of adult passengers, or the equivalent number of fares being paid:-
In Corridor Trains - 4 First Class or 6 Third
Class. On other Trains - 6 First Class or 8 Third
Class. For the purpose of seat reservation a child
holding a ticket is reconed as an adult.
Individual seats are reserved in most main line trains,
at the starting point, at a charge of 1/- each seat, but not at intermediate
stations. Information respecting reservations can
be obtained from the local Station Master. In some
cases this arangement will not apply at holiday times, i.e., Easter,
Whitsuntide, etc. |

RESERVATION OF SLEEPING BERTHS |
|
First and Third Class sleeping berths on
certain night trains may be reserved on application to the Station Master at
the starting point. The charges for sleeping
berths, in addition to the appropriate rail fares, are:-

SAVE TO TRAVEL |
|
A thrift scheme for holiday
makers. The arrangement provides
that savings stamps issued at 1/- each may be purchased at any L M S
Booking Office, Town Office, or from certain auxiliary Ticket Agents, and a
card is provided free of charge to hold ten such stamps. When the card is fully
stamped it is then exchangeable for a 10/- voucher which bears interest at the
rate of approximately 5 per cent. per annum, from the first day of the calendar
month following its issue The maximun value of a voucher, including interest,
is 10/6. One or more vouchers may be exchanged in
payment or part payment for a railway ticket or tickets including Holiday
Contract tickets but excluding Season Tickets, at a minimum value of 2/6.
Holders of "Save to Travel" cards are assured that
their transactions with the Company are treated as confidential.

| |
Following
weights of Personal luggage allowed free to holders of Ordinary, Tourist
(including Circular Tour), Monthly Return, Week-end, or Holiday Return
Tickets:- |

Excess weight charged according to
distance. Folded perambulators and folded
mail carts accompanying passengers are conveyed free at owners
risk. |

INCLUDING PERAMBULATORS - FOLDING (EMPTY). AND MAIL CARTS -
FOLDING (EMPTY). |

The following arrangements apply for
conveyance of Passengers' Luggage in advance:
(1) Betwen Stations in Great Britain
(except those of the London Passenger Transport Board), also with the Isle of
Man, Jersey and Guernsey. (2)
Betwen Stations in Great Britain and Belfast, also Stations in Northern
Ireland, as follows:-
(i) London Midland
and Scottish (Northern Counties Committee) Company's Stations, Belfast and
County Down Company's Stations, and certain Great Northern Ireland Company's
Stations via:-
Stranraer
and Larne.
Glasgow
direct boat ad Belfast.
Ardrossan
direct boat and Belfast.
Heysham
direct boat and Belfast.
Liverpool
direct boat and Belfast.
(ii) Certain Great
Northern (Ireland) Company's Stations via:-

Between Stations in Great Britain and the
Isle of Man, and between Stations in Great Britain and Belfast and County Down

Passengers' Unaccompanied Luggage forwarded to the
Isle of man, other than Douglas, can only be forwarded under the C.L.
arrangement. Passengers' Unaccompanied Luggage from the Isle of Man, other than
Douglas, will be accepted only under the D.L. arrangement. |

The collection and delivery service
operates within the usual free cartage areas.
The arrangement appies where ordinary, Tourist
(including Circular Tour), Monthly Return, Week-end or Holiday Return Tickets
have actually been taken for the journey and the free weight allowance in
respact of each Adult ticket held is:- First Class 150 lbs., Third Class 100
lbs. (Half-fare tickets are allowed half these weights). Weights in excess of
these free allowances are chargeable at the excess luggage scale.
Before luggage is accepted under these arrangements,
passengers must produce their Railway Tickets, which may be obtained in
advance. Weight should be limited to 112 lbs.
per package in order to facilitate handling.
The Passengers' Luggage in Advance arangement does not
apply to Ports and Stations in the Irish Free State. |

COLECTION, CONVEYANCE, AND DELIVERY OF
PARCELS |

The Company accept at any station parcels
for conveyance to any other Station. The Scale of
Rates shown below generally includes Collection and Delivery
within the usual cartage limits at Stations where arrangements for these
services are in operation. |

"RAILEX" EXPRESS POST LETTERS BY
RAILWAY |
|
A System of express post letters by
rail known as "RAILEX" has been introduced by the Post Office.
Under this scheme, for a fee of 2s. 6d., a letter not
exceeding 2 ozs. in weight, and 3s. 0d. for a letter weighing more than 2 ozs.
but not exceeding 1 lb., may be handed in at any post office, from which place
it will be delivered to the Railway Company by express mesenger for
transmission by rail to destination. The accepting post office will wire the
destination post office, particulars of despatch and time of arrival, and their
mesenger will meet the train and effect special delivery to the addressee.
In the case of distances of 100 miles and over,
this service may mean a saving of four or five hours, and in other cases the
saving in time will make the difference between delivery during and after
business hours. |

REGESTERED TRANSIT FOR PARCELS |
|
A Regestered transit for Passenger
Train Parcels and packages, known as thre "Blue Arrow" system, is in operation,
under which consignments may be regestered and brought within a specialised
control system and given the most expeditious transit and delivery possible.
This special service is available on payment
of a registration fee of 2s. 6d. per consignment, in addition to the actual
charge for conveyance, and during transit the parcels or packages will bear a
Blue Arrow label ensuring special attention throughout the entire journey.
