Founded by a small group of dedicated modelmakers, The L M S Society's main aim is to find out as much accurate and original information as possible about the subject of their interest, the London Midland and Scottish Railway.

The L M S Carriage Association.

L&NWR Society.
The aim of the Society is to collect and disseminate information about the London and North Western Railway, its constituents and its successors. We are interested in the infrastructure of the railway, the men and women who made it work, as well as the engines and rolling stock which it built and used. We aim to help modellers, preservationists, historians and those with just a passing interest in the LNWR.

Midland Railway Society.
The aims of the Society are to bring together those interested in the Midland Railway; including its predecessors, successors, joint lines and working arrangements and to disseminate information via a selection of publications.

The Midland Railway Study Centre.
A collaborative project comprising:-

 Roy F Burrows Midland Collection Trust.
 The Silk Mill - Derbys Museum of Industry and History.
 Midland Railway Society.
Each of these bodies will be housing their collections of Midland Railway ephemera and artefacts with the Study Centre which is to be located within Derby's Silk Mill on Full Street. The result will be the largest collection of publicly accessible Midland Railway material in the world.

The Princess Royal Class Locomotive Trust.
The Trust exists to promote interest in the Stanier Pacific steam locomotives of the London Midland and Scottish Railway and the Standard Class 4 Tank locomotives of British Railways. This is being achieved by collecting, recording, conserving, restoring to working order and curating evidence of these locomotives, and promoting interest in their heritage by making collections and associated information available to the public.

Carnforth Station.
In 1937 the London Midland and Scottish Railway Co. announced a £53,000 government funded, improvement scheme for Carnforth station. These improvements were completed in 1938, and involved a major rebuild of the station, and a new 890 foot long additional platform for the Furness trains. When built, this was the longest unsupported single piece concrete roof, in Britain, and possibly the world.

In the Signal Box you will find descriptions and illustrations of signals, explanations of the rules and regulations, photographs, historic articles and reminiscences.
Whether or not you have a deep interest in signalling or just a passing interest, there is a lot to look through, but be careful not to infringe Rule 72 (a)!
